AUGUST 2014: The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier (JLSB) is excited to announce a new fundraising event for 2014. The JLSB Kitchen Tour will be the first of its kind in the area. Other Leagues in cities such as New Orleans and Chattanooga have enjoyed tremendous success with their Kitchen Tours, and the JLSB expects it will be a triumph in Northwest Louisiana as well.

The self-guided Kitchen Tour will take place Saturday, November 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The JLSB has partnered with the Northwest Louisiana Home Builders Association (HBA) for the event and has selected 10 new and newly remodeled kitchens in the Shreveport area. These fabulous kitchens represent a variety of styles including traditional, contemporary and outdoor so that those looking for ideas for their own remodeling projects as well as those who simply appreciate thoughtful design and craftsmanship will find plenty to take their breath away. The Kitchen Tour will be an ideal way to see the latest in kitchen design, trends in appliances and interior design.

The homes included on the 2014 JLSB Kitchen Tour, along with their builders and designers, are:

  • Baucum Home on Querbes Drive – Woodshapers
  • Bridges Home in Southern Trace – Ed Jackson
  • Bryan Home on Thora Boulevard – Bryan Contracting Group
  • Frierson Home on the Frierson Plantation – Terry Elston
  • Home in Longlake – Terry Elston

  • Home on Railsback Road – Hamilton Builders
  • Moorhead Home on the Myatt Property – Terry Elston

Tickets will cost $25 in advance on the JLSB website ( or $30 the day of the event (tickets will be available at each home on the tour). The JLSB is thrilled that Kitchen & Bath Cottage is on board as hospitality sponsor. During the tour, ticket holders can stop by their location on Line Avenue to enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Additionally, there will be a variety of recipes available to sample from the Junior League cookbooks Mardi Gras to Mistletoe and A Cook’s Tour. The JLSB will also be raffling off some fantastic items.

For more than 80 years, the JLSB has worked tirelessly to effect positive change in the Shreveport-Bossier community. With more than 800 trained and talented volunteers, the JLSB donates over 10,000 hours of direct community service to Caddo and Bossier Parishes. Those hours equate to a $217,900 direct impact on the community through volunteer services. In addition, the JLSB provides funding to train volunteers, support local projects and bestow grants and scholarships upon organizations in need. Its core projects foster improvements in literacy, childhood obesity, family life skills and the cultural enrichment of youth, which are just a few of the issues facing Shreveport-Bossier.
