MAGIC: Mentoring Ambitious Girls to Inspire Change

Mentoring Ambitious Girls to Inspire Change (M.A.G.I.C.) is a mentorship program that works with the young girls at Volunteers of America Teen Club – Highland Center to set positive examples of character and behavior in the “real world.”

Mentoring Ambitious Girls to Inspire Change (M.A.G.I.C.) History

Launched in 2014, M.A.G.I.C. has become a beloved placement in the League. Volunteers throughout the years have been extraordinary examples of leadership.

Twice each month, JLSB M.A.G.I.C. volunteers coordinate programs organized around topics such as building confidence and self-esteem, encouraging creativity, peer pressure, mental health, hygiene, healthy friendships and relationships, etiquette, literacy and careers, voluntarism, healthy lifestyles, and making responsible decisions. The interactive programs help girls navigate society, encourage study, and show teens more of the world around them. The M.A.G.I.C. program is fun for all and leaves participants with positive examples they can adopt in their own lives.

Inspire M.A.G.I.C.

The M.A.G.I.C. team is always looking for experts in their field to come to teach or share their expertise with the magical young ladies we work with. M.A.G.I.C. Scholarships

At the end of the 2022-2023 League year, the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, Inc. was able to disperse two additional scholarships at the May General Membership Meeting. These $1,000 scholarships were awarded to two young ladies who had a long-standing participation in our M.A.G.I.C. program. The League was able to continue this gift in the 2023-2024 League year and hope to continue and make this a tradition, truly inspiring change among the young ladies in our community.
