THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN PARTICIPATE IN JUNIOR LEAGUE PROJECTS AT THE 2013 RED RIVER REVEL

OCTOBER, 2013: THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER CONTINUES “KIDS IN THE KITCHEN” AND “ARTIST FOR A DAY” PROJECTS.

KIDS IN THE KITCHEN will host 6,000 local fourth graders to educate them about healthy eating and lifestyle choices. Students from various schools in the Shreveport-Bossier area will be bused into downtown Shreveport during the school day for an entertaining new program filled with games, demonstrations and giveaways. Kids in the Kitchen is run by the Junior-League of Shreveport-Bossier to empower children to make healthy choices and to help prevent the spread of childhood obesity associated with health issues.

10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The ARTIST FOR A DAY tent welcomes all children attending The Revel to participate in creating unique masterpieces utilizing different art techniques and mediums. This FREE activity staffed by Junior League volunteers features hands-on demonstrations by a professional visiting artist each day.

The Red River Revel, winner of the 1988 President’s Volunteer Action Award, began in 1976 as the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier’s Bicentennial gift to the citizens of the region.
