Shreveport, LA – July 2015: The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier, Inc. is pleased to announce Shirley Wright and the engineering firm of Aillet, Fenner, Jolly and McClelland as the 2014-2015 President’s Award Recipients.
Each year, the Junior League President presents an award to the person or persons she believes truly embody the spirit of the organization. The recipient of this award should be someone who is a leader, a servant leader, who goes about his or her work with the best interests of others in mind and who seeks no recognition for his or her service.
The first recipient, Shirley Wright, is wise and faithful. Elba Hamilton, 2014-2015 President, said, “She has taught me a lot during these past eight years about being faithful in everything you do and never giving up. I truly saw her servant leadership this past year when she offered to do some extra things for me so I could do my job as President of the Junior League.” Wright works for the Hamilton family as a nanny for their three young children. This past year, knowing how busy it would be, she offered to go above and beyond her normal duties to allow Hamilton to excel in her position as President. Hamilton said, “Mrs. Shirley has definitely helped me keep all those balls in the air this past year, and she is one of many who helped me as I strive for balance in my life.”
The other recipient of the President’s Award this year, Aillet, Fenner, Jolly and McClelland, is a company founded in 1960 that provides engineering services for public and private entities. This company seeks clients that value creativity and the desire to form long-term relationships. They believe their ability to understand the issues that drive a project, as well as the unique aspects associated with the owner and his industry, enable them to successfully work with their project partners. Hamilton said, “I would add to this that they not only know how to understand their clients and their projects but their employees. I have been working for Aillet, Fenner, Jolly and McClelland since my Provisional year in the Junior League. Ever since that day, they have been an encouragement in my efforts of performing volunteer work in the community. However, they did not stop there; when my time to become a mother came, they provided the flexibility to work a reduced number of hours to help me try to balance family, work, and volunteer activities.”
The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier congratulates Shirley Wright and Aillet, Fenner, Jolly and McClelland on receiving the 2014-2015 President’s Awards.
