January 13, 2013: The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier is getting ready to Go Shopping for a Cause.
The League, with Market Chief Kristen Gary, is knee deep in planning the spring market March 7-9 at Shreveport Convention Center. Proceeds go, of course, to League projects.
To kick it off, the agency is holding League Shreveport-Bossier Running for a Cause 5K &½-mile Family Fun Run on Feb.16. So put on your running shoes for the event at Independence Stadium and travel a course that ends on the football field inside the stadium.
Then, hop, skip and jump to the afterparty for live music, food, beverages and kids’ entertainment.
At the market, ticketholders can shop for three days.
In addition, there are three special events open to the public:
6 p.m. March 7. Girls Night Out. “Sweet Southern Shoppin'” will feature great music by Mike’s Light &Sound; delicious drinks; hors d’oeuvres, desserts by Woo Hoo Whoopies and Bistro Byronz; shopping; and many merry moments.
7 p.m. March 8. Southern-themed “Belles and Beaux” Patron Party honors the patrons and sponsors. The dress is Southern cocktail attire for the women —will be interesting to see what that is! —and suits and bow ties for the men. There will be: silent auction in the center courtyard; music by Earshot Graffiti; catering by Savoie’s and dessert by Ally B’s; photo booth by Meredith Hamrick Events; and a chance to shop.
10 a.m. to 11 a.m. March 9. “Breakfast With Bunnies.” Bring the kids to breakfast by Monsour’s and have spring pics taken by Barnes Portraiture with live bunnies. No charge for the sitting and participants can order photos.
Sooo, mark your calendars. I’ll see you there.
Admission: $5 per day, individual; $35, “Girls Night Out,” prior to market, or $50 market week or at the door; $75, individual, Belles and Beaux.
