Non-mandatory social events are often organized, allowing you to get to know fellow Provisionals!
Provisional members must attend Provisional course meetings, General Membership meetings, a Fall Retreat, and work two (2) fundraising shifts, selecting between staffing Pepsi Booths at the Red River Revel, working at the Junior League Spring Market, or volunteering at a Junior League small fundraiser. Provisional members’ financial obligations are:
- A one-time provisional course fee of $120 (includes yearbook picture and Junior League Apron)
- Cookbook sales of $100
- Annual memberships dues of $120 due February 15 each year
Active Members have agreed to engage in community service in connection with programs chosen by the League. Active Members complete a “placement” each year, selecting a volunteer opportunity to serve the Shreveport-Bossier community or choosing to serve within the JLSB administration. Details of the past year’s community placements can be found here. Members dedicate a minimum of 40 hours over the course of the year participating in their chosen volunteer activity. Active members must also attend 5 (five) General Meetings and complete 2 (two) Ways and Means shifts, choosing between Pepsi sales at the Red River Revel, Cookbook sales at various events and tastings, and working at the Junior League Spring Market or a JL small fundraiser. After meeting certain membership requirements detailed in the JLSB by-laws, members may choose to become “sustaining” members; that is, take a less active but supporting role in the League. Sustaining members may choose to return to Active status at any time.
Active members’ financial obligations are:
- Annual membership dues of $120 due February 15 each year
- Contribution of $100 to Junior League Spring Market via ticket sales
Our Sustainers pay annual dues of $75 to $95, and are welcome to attend all General Meetings, trainings and fundraising shifts as they wish. Our Sustainers serve as mentors to the Provisional and Active members of the League, and are a valuable source of support and inspiration to the League as a whole. Many of our Sustainers started as volunteers in the Junior League and go on to serve as leaders in other charity organizations in the Shreveport-Bossier community.
