Paired Reading is a reading mentoring program pairing JLSB volunteers and first graders at Atkins Elementary in Shreveport. A JLSB volunteer reads with 6 students total each day she volunteers. Our goal is to instill a love of reading in these children and provide positive feedback on their reading efforts. Teachers and staff at Atkins Elementary have seen marked improvement in test scores from those students that have participated in the program.Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier
